There are 4 main types of microorganisms; Fungi, Protists, Eubacteria, and Archaebacteria.
Fungi: Mushrooms are in the Fungi kingdom, and probably one of the most well known types of Fungi. Another well known Fungi is yeast, which we use to make things such as bread. They are also Saprophytes, which means they decompose dead stuff for food. Three types of Fungi are Club, Sac, and Zygote. Most Fungi reproduce with spores. Penicillium, aka Penicillin, is used for medicine, and scientists are not sure what type of fungi it is.
Protists: Protists are one or many celled organisms that live in a moist or wet environment. There are three types; Plant like, animal like, and fungi like. Plant like usually don't move and are most likely green. Animal like usually move around and catch other food. Some ways that they move are with flagella, pseudopods, and cillia. Fungi like protists move sometimes and cant move sometimes. They decompose dead stuff to eat it.
Eubacteria: Eubacteria can make oxygen and cause diseases. One disease they cause is Pneumonia. Anything that causes diseases are called pathogens.
Archaebacteria: Archaebacteria are found in extreme conditions. Some like heat, salt, and acid.
Some ways that microorganisms can be helpful: -Some are cyanobacteria, which are bacteria that make oxygen. -Some bacteria makes medicine -Certain ones change nitrogen into more useful nitrogen. -Bioremediation is bacteria that cleans and removes polutants
